Gatineau, QC, January 14, 2025 – Tyto Robotics is proud to announce the release of the Flight Stand 60 Engine Test Stand, a precise solution for evaluating internal combustion engines (ICE) and propellers.
“For years, Tyto Robotics has specialized in testing BLDC motors, but we’re excited to now offer a robust testing solution for UAV manufacturers working with internal combustion engines,” said Charles Blouin, President and co-founder of Tyto Robotics. “The Flight Stand 60 provides the reliable, high-precision data needed to optimize engine performance and efficiency.”
Specifications
The stand is capable of measuring thrust up to 60 kgf, torque up to 30 Nm, rotation speed up to 16,800 RPM, fuel flow rates up to 800 mL/min, and temperatures up to 800°C.
The stand’s kit includes a thrust and torque measurement unit, a fiber optic RPM sensor, a fuel flow sensor, two thermocouples for measuring exhaust and system temperature, and an airspeed pressure sensor to capture airflow data.
Features
The Flight Stand 60 features a vibration-resistant design including tailored dampers for various engine sizes. Its 1,000 Hz sampling rate enables dynamic testing and detailed analysis of harmonics, vibration, and torque. Additionally, the system’s thrust and torque sensors are calibrated to ASTM standards to ensure high accuracy measurements.
Applications
The applications for the Flight Stand 60 include:
-
Comparing engine-propeller combinations
-
Carburetor tuning and engine break-in
-
Fuel efficiency measurement
-
Variable pitch propeller testing
-
Cylinder performance synchronization
-
Generation of 3D engine performance plots
-
Crank angle optimization
